Ich hab inzwischen ne Menge Leute, die mir per Mastodon folgen, die keinerlei Bio, Klarnamen, Interessen oder irgendwas in der Art in ihrem Account gelistet haben - oft auch keine Trööts.

Und alle, die das noch vor sich haben: Bitte erst den eigenen Account hypsch machen und dann Leuten folgen. Oder nen bekanntes Handle/Bild whatever verwenden. Dankö!

I decided to bite the bullet and transfer my account from the "big" server to my own tiny instance.

It looks like my small list of followers transferred across without problems, but I am still having the issue where some of my follows are showing up in a "waiting for approval" state.

This instance feels way snappier than the bigger one, but I guess this is to be expected since right now it has a grand total of 2 users.

Bitte nehmt die Originalbegriffe und setzt Hashtags zusätzlich.

What I usually do when there's lots of new people coming in is, I boost all the #introductions posts that aren't tech-centric.

That's because of the attached diagram - not every post makes it to every instance automatically.

So, if I see any #introductions posts that I think need sharing about, I'll boost them to get them out to more of the Fediverse network.

Die Aktivistin Friederike Benjes blockierte für 30 min eine Straße und wird zu einer Strafe von ca. 3000€ verurteilt. Zur selben Zeit blockieren in Berlin tausende Autofahrer die Fahrradwege und kommen ungestraft davon oder maximal mit einem "Knöllchen" von 50€. Autojustiz am Limit.

It's fine to do that but understand it goes to just two big instances and the official Mastodon dev team.

It does NOT trickle down to YOUR instance. If you want to support your server, donate to it directly. Nearly all the costs of the explosive growth of the past few weeks is borne by local instances.

Y'all really think Trump will go back to Twitter though? I think his ego is too big for that. More than likely some intern is just gonna copy and paste his truth social posts to the Twitter account. And there tons of right wing cultists who do that already.

Well, I rolled out my own Mastodon instance on my tiny Docker host. For now I will probably just use it to figure out what all of the buttons do.

One thing does have me perplexed, following people on certain instances seems to require approval when done so from my own instance, while following the same people from mastodon.social does not.

I'm guessing mastodon.social is somehow whitelisted with most other instances and my own brand new instance is not.
