I decided to bite the bullet and transfer my account from the "big" server to my own tiny instance.

It looks like my small list of followers transferred across without problems, but I am still having the issue where some of my follows are showing up in a "waiting for approval" state.

This instance feels way snappier than the bigger one, but I guess this is to be expected since right now it has a grand total of 2 users.

Es zieht zunehmend die von Twitter stammende Gewohnheit ein, dass statt der originalen Begriffe verfremdete Hashtags verwendet werden. Das führt dazu, dass die Aussage nicht mehr klar und eindeutig ist. Insbesondere für Menschen mit Leseschwierigkeiten oder #Autismus, die Aussagen wörtlich nehmen.

Beispiel: "#NoAfD sollte verboten werden"

Ist gemeint, dass die Aussage "No AfD" oder die Partei AfD verboten werden sollte?

Bitte nehmt die Originalbegriffe und setzt Hashtags zusätzlich.

What I usually do when there's lots of new people coming in is, I boost all the #introductions posts that aren't tech-centric.

That's because of the attached diagram - not every post makes it to every instance automatically.

So, if I see any #introductions posts that I think need sharing about, I'll boost them to get them out to more of the Fediverse network.

Nicht einmal der dringende Ausstieg aus Öl und fossilem Gas konnte im Schlussdokument benannt werden. Es waren 636 Öl- und Gaslobbyisten bei der #COP27  angemeldet. Die Erzeugerstaaten blockieren aus kurzsichtigen Partikularinteressen. Wir sind in einer brandgefährlichen Notlage.

Die Aktivistin Friederike Benjes blockierte für 30 min eine Straße und wird zu einer Strafe von ca. 3000€ verurteilt. Zur selben Zeit blockieren in Berlin tausende Autofahrer die Fahrradwege und kommen ungestraft davon oder maximal mit einem "Knöllchen" von 50€. Autojustiz am Limit.

I can't help but notice many toots from helpful newbies encouraging you to support the Mastodon Patreon.

It's fine to do that but understand it goes to just two big instances and the official Mastodon dev team.

It does NOT trickle down to YOUR instance. If you want to support your server, donate to it directly. Nearly all the costs of the explosive growth of the past few weeks is borne by local instances.

Mastodon is decentralized. There is no Mastodon Inc. This is not Twitter.

Das Elon Musk Trump wieder zurückholt, zeigt vor allem wieder mal eindrücklich, dass man seinen Worten nicht trauen darf.

Vor kurzem erklärte er noch, dass diese Entscheidung eine Kommission treffen soll. Jetzt „entscheidet“ seine Filterblase, echt billig.
